OUR STORY

THE HEART OF THE COUNTER,
SINCE 2002

Since we first opened our doors, Maine Road Chippy has been about more than just food. It is about the people who walk through the door and the community we’ve built around the fryer. Our shop is run with a simple philosophy: treat everyone like a regular and never compromise on the quality of a proper British meal. From the warm greeting at the counter to the steam rising from a fresh box of fish and chips, we take pride in the personal touch that only a family-run local staple can provide.

There are no shortcuts behind this counter. Every morning starts with the same commitment to the craft—hand-cutting our chips from the best British potatoes and preparing our signature batter from scratch. It’s a loud, busy, and honest environment where the fryers never stop and the standards never drop. We don’t do fancy; we do it right, ensuring that every fan and neighbor gets the same legendary quality that has made us a Manchester institution.

The Spirit of Maine Road

Our location on Ashton New Road is steeped in Manchester’s rich footballing and industrial heritage. Named after the legendary former home of Manchester City, we sit at the crossroads of the city’s past and its future.

Being just a short walk from the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live means we aren't just a landmark for neighbors, but a home away from home for fans from all over the globe. We stand as a bridge between generations, keeping the authentic spirit of Maine Road alive in the heart of the modern stadium district.

This isn’t just a spot on a map; it’s a living part of the match-day geography. While the skyline around us continues to change and the stadiums grow larger, our corner remains a constant.

We are the stewards of a tradition that started long before the new stands were built, a place where the pre-match buzz and the post-match post-mortem happen over a box of hot chips.

For us, being here means carrying the torch for the Manchester that was, while serving the Manchester of today.
